The National Hurricane Center on Wednesday afternoon said it is monitoring a tropical wave forecast to move offshore of west Africa within two days.

Hurricane Kiko is expected to pass north of the Hawaiian islands this week, threatening the archipelago with life-threatening surf and rip currents.

"I'm trying to get the attention of those at DHS that are being slow to reimburse North Carolina for funds already spent," Ted Budd told McClatchy.
